Shaikh Khalid

Bahrain seeks notice on society interactions

Manama, September 4, 2013

Bahrain’s government will have to be informed at least three days in advance if a political society seeks to meet officials from embassies or foreign governmental organisations, a report said.

A ministerial decision to this effect was issued by Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa yesterday, according to the report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The new article was included in an earlier order governing communication between political societies and foreign political parties and organisations.

Under the amendment, all communications between political societies and embassies or foreign organisations will have to be made in co-ordination with the Foreign Ministry, in the presence of its representative or any other party proposed by the ministry.

The decision also applies to communications with any foreign political organisation, the Political Societies Affairs Office said. – TradeArabia News Service
