Rooting out terrorism is top priority

Manama, August 12, 2013

Eliminating terrorism remains the main concern of Bahrain and its people, the Premier said yesterday.

That is why the representatives of the people responded quickly and submitted their recommendations to His Majesty King Hamad who tasked the government with implementing them so as to confront terrorism and enforce the rule of law, said a report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa made the remarks as he visited the Central Governorate where he met Governor Mubarak Al Fadhel, MPs, dignitaries and citizens.

Stressing that there is no longer room for the fearful, he urged loyal citizens to join ranks and stand united to be able to face the challenges facing the nation and eradicate terrorism.

He said his recent visits were aimed at meeting citizens, listening to them and assuring them that the government shared their concerns regarding the protection of the homeland.

The government is resolved to take all necessary measures to implement the National Assembly recommendations and inflict penalties on instigators and terrorists.

"Our shared goal is to achieve the interests of our country, and we exchange views on every national issue, just as Bahraini people have done for ages," he said.

He affirmed that Bahrain has never been intimidated by interference by foreign countries and will never allow them to implement their plans in it, calling for the need to defend the kingdom against those seeking to spread chaos and division in it, as is the case in other countries in the region.

The Premier asserted that calls to wreak havoc and destroy hard-won national achievements have been turned down by noble and honourable citizens.

He said that the recommendations did not come out of a vacuum, but from representatives of the people and are a message expressed by the Bahraini citizens, affirming that the government will spare no effort to meet their aspirations.

"We totally reject any interference in our domestic affairs, and inciters have no place among us," he added, stressing that the government is resolved to confront malicious terrorism with the force of the law.

He pointed out that Bahrain is not isolated from its brotherly GCC countries which provided it with all kinds of support, extending sincere thanks to Saudi Arabia.

The governor thanked the Premier and affirmed that the citizens of the governorate are proud and loyal to the Premier, and are partners to their compatriots in safeguarding national achievements, enhancing its development and progress and defending its territorial sovereignty.

He added that history is laden with the Premier's landmark contributions and dedication in service of the homeland and its citizens.

The citizens also expressed their full support for the measures to be taken by the Premier. - TradeArabia News Service
