Bahrain, Yemen 'united against threats'

Bahrain and Yemen on Thursday rejected any foreign interference in their internal affairs and urged utmost alertness amid mounting threats, and regional and international challenges.

This came as Bahrain's leadership held talks with visiting Yemeni Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa.

His Majesty King Hamad received Basindwa at Safriya Palace and discussed historical relations and ways of opening new horizons of co-operation in all fields.

They also reviewed Arab and regional issues and ways of enhancing security and stability in the region.

The Yemeni Premier briefed His Majesty on efforts by Yemeni National Consensus Government to boost development strides, the executive mechanism of the GCC peace initiative and preparations to hold presidential elections next month.

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa met Mr Basindwa and reiterated a resolve to promote co-operation, stressing the importance of security and stability as a cornerstone of regional development.

He reaffirmed Bahrain's support for all steps to re-establish Yemen's security and stability, beyond any foreign meddling.

The two leaders hailed both countries' success in foiling attempts to subvert their stability.

They stressed the strategic importance of Bahrain and Yemen in protecting the region and preserving its identity.

HRH the Premier stressed Bahrain's support for efforts to ensure the success of the national dialogue in Yemen.

He described the GCC initiative as being the ideal solution to address the situation in Yemen.

Basindwa paid tribute to Bahrain for playing a constructive role in promoting the GCC initiative to protect Yemen's unity.

He stressed his country's firm support for Bahrain in its efforts to protect security and stability and preserve its Arab identity.-TradeArabia News Service
