Memac Ogilvy backs ‘ideas summit’

Beirut, September 28, 2011

Memac Ogilvy, a leading advertising agency, recently sponsored a conference aimed at helping the spread of great ideas and innovative concepts in Mkalles, Lebanon.

TEDxBeirut was held under the theme ‘From Limitation to Inspiration’ at the Berytech Technological Pole.

“TED is all about the spreading of groundbreaking ideas that inspire people to think outside the box and change the way they see things,” said Edmond Moutran, founder, chairman and CEO of Memac Ogilvy.

“This is something we are really passionate about at Memac Ogilvy and something we work hard to encourage in all our employees and the communities in which we work.

Aligning ourselves with a brand like TED gives us an opportunity to showcase our leadership in the communications industry and how our pioneering ideas are continually breaking through the mundane.”

TEDx is a programme of local self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. TED, which stands for Technology Entertainment and Design, is a non-profit organisation devoted to ‘ideas worth spreading’.

Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free of charge, at TED.com.

TEDxBeirut hosted many local and international speakers that included young entrepreneurs, creative minds, as well as champions of Education and Technology.

The conference attracted approximately 600 participants. – TradeArabia News Service
