Bahrain water use drops by 15 per cent

Bahrain has witnessed a 15 per cent drop in water consumption during the rainy season, according to a top official at the Electricity and Water Authority.

“The water consumption mainly for agricultural purpose decreases during the rains,” Electricity and Water Conservation Directorate director Rana Salloom told our sister newspaper Gulf Daily News (GDN).

“It is during this period the consumption decreases by 15 per cent.”

She said rainwater storage in the Gulf countries was not a popular practice as the region receives much less. However, she said individuals were encouraged to store rainwater, which they could use for their plants.-TradeArabia News Service
