TRA holds IT security awareness program

The UAE Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), one of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) initiatives, has launched a national campaign to raise security awareness for judges in cooperation with Dubai Courts.

First of its kind in the UAE, the initiative aims to strengthen security alertness against digital crimes among judges, present means of dealing with such crimes, and reinforce the role of the law for the purposes of establishing a safe online environment.

The initiative kicked off with a series of awareness lectures held in the grand auditorium in Dubai Courts. The lectures saw the launch of the Cybercrime Litigation Guide that contains a review of various types of cybercrimes and related evidence material such as hard disks, e-mails, files, mobile phones records, RAM and cache memory, in addition to photos and multimedia content.

“Creating a safe and secure digital environment is a strategic goal for the TRA. aeCERT will allow government bodies and authorities to benefit from the latest technologies applied in the fields safeguarding data and information against all kinds of cyber attacks,” said Mohamed Nassar Al Ghanim, director general of TRA.

The campaign included several workshops on different types of cybercrimes such as e-mail crimes, identity theft using malicious software, and information theft among other crimes.

“The MoU signed with TRA will immensely contribute in providing the Judiciary system with crucial information about cybercrimes,” added Saud Al Dhawyani, head of Information Infrastructure, and acting director of IT Department at Dubai Courts.-TradeArabia News Service
