CDA starts registration of social service providers

Dubai, March 23, 2010

The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has launched a campaign to register social service providers in Dubai under the slogan “Get recognized…get registered”.

The initiative is part of CDA’s commitment to strengthen the quality of social services in the emirate, said a statement from the authority.

The campaign targets various categories including professionals, who provide direct social care to people with disabilities and vulnerable groups, and facilities that house social care services, it noted.

It also targets associations, social clubs and non governmental entities that provide social care and development, the statement added.

'The registration can be made at www.cda.gov.ae, and CDA will notify registrants on the regulations, rules and standards that are developed in the field,' said Khaled Al Kamda, CDA director general.

The campaign, Al Kamda said, comes in line with Dubai government’s strategy to strengthen the level of social services provided in the Emirate for all cross-sections of the community.

The co-operation with social service providers and those who will benefit from such services will contribute to achieving social development over the long term,” he remarked.

Dr Omar Al-Muthanna, CEO of Social Regulatory and Licensing at CDA, thanked the government departments and authorities for their support to the initiative, which reflects the spirit of cooperation between departments, institutions and government bodies.

“Both the service providers and the recipients of the services will benefit positively from participating in this registration process, as well as  the associations and social clubs who will entrench their presence and render them more visible to the public. They will be allowed to access the necessary information and expertise through a qualified team,” said Dr Omar.

“Get recognized…get registered” is the first step of the licensing process as the registration will regulate the activities of social service providers and strengthen their continuing relation with CDA.-TradeArabia News Service
