Sharjah Media City (Shams) has signed an agreement with Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), a leading TV and radio broadcasting company in South Korea, to strengthen cooperation in the global media industry.

MBC Korea's terrestrial operations has a nationwide network of 17 regional stations and is headquartered in Digital Media City, Mapo District, Seoul.

The partnership aims to deepen ties between Shams and MBC Korea through enhanced media content business development and exchange of knowledge and expertise between both parties, said a statement.

The partnership serves to accomplish common goals and improve media content in both countries in accordance with regulations and legislation, the statement added.

Rashid Abdullah Al Obed, Managing Director of Sharjah Media City, and Hyoung-Mun Choi, Director of Business Centre and Head of projects at MBC, signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a ceremony held in Shams Business Centre on Wednesday (August 30, 2023).

Al Obed said the bilateral cooperation demonstrates Shams’ eagerness to continue building a network of cooperation and partnership with various international media companies for the future of the media sector and to establish a sustainable model of professional international cooperation. 

Hyoung-Mun Choi, Director of Business Centre and Head of all MBC projects said the signing of the MOU with Shams was an influential step forward, owing to Shams’ long history and good standing in the media industry.
