Imperial Russian Ballet set for Bahrain debut

For the first time in Bahrain, the Imperial Russian Ballet Company will host performances from March 2 to 4, at the Exhibition World Bahrain, as part of the "Spring of Culture" complementing the schedule of the Formula Grand Races.
Through its performance, The Imperial Russian Ballet is bringing to the kingdom the masterpieces of world ballet, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, set to music by Russian genius Pyotr Tchaikovsky, accompanied by the live Sviatoslav Richter Symphony Orchestra, in a magical setting that transports viewers to amazing worlds of enchanting fairy tales.
The creative generosity of the performance is not limited to just the performances of the ballets. At the initiative of the Common Ground International promoters of the tour, on March 4 is the First Part of the ballet "Sleeping Beauty: Aurora's Wedding", designed primarily for young spectators.
Also an Open Orchestra Masterclass will be held as part of the programme, according to the organisers.
This unique inclusion, consisting of three parts "sounds of music", "sounds of dance" and "sounds of voice will be not only incredibly interesting but educational as well, as the lesson on "sounds of music" will be honoured by the presence of Director of the Gnesin Academy of Music, Professor Alexander Ryzhinsky, they stated.
This educational institution is an icon and is one of the oldest in the world - next year the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music will celebrate its 150th anniversary!, said the organisers.
For this single performance of the ballet Sleeping Beauty, the American non-profit Arts & Science Achievement Foundation has donated to the Royal Charity Foundation 100 tickets for underprivileged children, as well as tickets to the Ministry of Interior for the families of those who died in duty, as part of their philanthropic mission.
It doesn’t stop there! An exclusive Classical Ballet Master Class, taught by the troupe’s own artistic director Gediminas Taranda will be given to the students of the Bahrain Ballet Center. These students will also have a unique opportunity to attend the troupe rehearsal at the venue itself!
Dr Anna Aartsibasheva, President of the Arts& Science Achievement Foundation and one of the project organizers, said: "We are excited to present these performances on these days as it perfectly showcases the variety of entertainment available in the Kingdom of Bahrain."
