Landmark’s Ramadan charity drive raises $640,000

DUBAI, June 27, 2019

Dubai-based Landmark Group’s leading loyalty programme, Shukran, has raised over 40.7 million Shukrans worth Dh2.35 million ($640,000) for charity, through its special ‘Shukran Ramadan’ initiative launched during Ramadan.

Over one million Shukran members across the region donated Shukran points earned from their purchases at participating outlets in support of various charitable causes including girls’ education, children with Down’s Syndrome and Breast Cancer support. The initiative aimed at capturing the true spirit of Ramadan by bringing communities together and encouraging them to make a genuine difference to the less fortunate.

Nisha Jagtiani, Group director, Landmark Group, said: ““We would like to thank all our customers for supporting the pan-GCC fund-raising drive for our Shukran Ramadan initiative. We received donations from more than 1M loyal customers across the region, through the period of Ramadan and this support has been integral to the success of the initiative.

“Shukran Ramadan showcases our Group’s philosophy of giving back to the community. We hope our contributions to the charities we have partnered with can make a positive difference to the those in need.”

The initiative was launched in partnership with Dubai Cares in the UAE, a philanthropic organization working to provide children and young people in developing countries with access to quality education.

Throughout the month-long campaign, the Group also partnered with Ensan in Saudi Arabia, Royal Charity Organisation in Bahrain, Oman Down Syndrome Association and Association of Early Intervention for Children with Disability in Oman, Baheya in Egypt, Tkiyet Um Ali in Jordan and with The Social Welfare Institutions (Dar AL Aytam Al Islamiya) in Lebanon.

The largest of its kind in the Middle East, Shukran rewards customers as they shop across a range of the Group’s brands and other partner brands. With this initiative, Shukran members making purchases during Ramadan at Landmark Group brand outlets including Centrepoint, Max, Home Centre, Babyshop, SHOEMART, Splash, Home Box, Shoexpress amongst many others had the chance to donate their Shukrans towards a good cause.

Founded in 1973 in Bahrain, the Landmark Group is one of the largest and most successful retail organizations in the Middle East and India. The Group operates over 2,300 outlets encompassing over 30 million sq ft across Mena and the Indian sub-continent. – TradeArabia News Service
