Arab Idol star stuns crowd at City Centre Deira

DUBAI, April 11, 2016

Popstar Mohammed Assaf performed a selection of his most popular tracks at the City Centre Deira during the mall's Spring Summer 'Fashiontainment' event recently.

Models took to the catwalk to showcase the season’s latest trends from fashion brands housed in the mall, said a statement.

Assaf gained world recognition as a contestant on Arab Idol, which he went on to dominate and win. The Palestinian star, a self-taught singer, was given the nickname Asaroukh ('The Rocket') by Lebanese singer and Arab Idol judge Ragheb Alama.

Assaf's story was the basis of the 2015 biopic, The Idol, directed by Hany Abu-Assad.

As part of its ‘Star Style Search’ weekend, the mall offered shoppers the opportunity to win an incredible fashion experience. With every purchase at any of the fashion outlets within the mall shoppers had the chance to use the virtual closet mirror.

The interactive experience allowed participants to choose an outfit from its digital wardrobe provided by mall retailers.

Among the top 20 finalists vying for the title, one lucky winner will be selected to be glammed up by industry-leading make-up artists and stylists, featured in a leading lifestyle magazine, and receive a shopping spree worth Dh10,000 ($2,721).

Meanwhile, shoppers also stand the chance double the win until April 15 at the City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif, as they spend Dh300 at any store around the mall. - TradeArabia News Service
