ME firms set for Asia's biggest infocomm show

Singapore, June 15, 2013

Asia’s largest annual event, the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX) will be held from June 17 to 21 at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

The event is a confluence of government and business leaders, companies and industry professionals to showcase the latest innovations, to network and exchange ideas.

The imbX is being hosted by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and organised by the Singapore Exhibition Services and the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation.

It will bring together international participants from over 100 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the United States, said the event organisers.

Companies in the GCC such as North Telecom and Thuraya Telecommunications Company are also exhibiting at the CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia exhibitions of imbX.

In the Specialised Techzones of CommunicAsia, which is a new addition this year, international exhibitors will feature ground-breaking technologies, products and solutions that are relevant to the evolving technology trends in the industry including LTE/4G, mobile apps and augmented reality, IPTV, mobile broadband, NFC and mCommerce, OTT, satellite communications, smartphones and devices and more.

In addition to the exhibitions, the“Ministerial Forum on ICT 2013” and the “eGov Global Exchange2013”will take place in the same week.

Building on the success of three consecutive international e-Government events, the eGov Global Exchange 2013 will again bring together senior policy makers and practitioners from around the world to share thought-leadership, latest trends and insights on e-Government Singapore’s eGov2015 Masterplan.

With three decades of e-Government implementation, Singapore continues to receive international recognition for harnessing infocomm for social and economic development.

Singapore was placed second in the Global IT Report for 2013, published by the World Economic Forum and Insead, which measured the impact of ICT on the development process and competitiveness of nations.

For five years in a roll, Singapore topped the Waseda University e-Government Ranking for efforts in planning and implementing e-Government in Singapore from 2009 to 2013.

During the event, imbX will host the Ministerial Forum as well as the eGovernment Forum inviting more than 20 delegations including representatives from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman and UAE. The main aim would be to foster closer relationships with the GCC delegates as well as to encourage ICT knowledge sharing between countries, said the organisers.

Kevin Chan, the centre director in the Middle East, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore said, “In this era of a globally connected world, governmentsworldwide have the universal goal of  leveraging on ICT to enrichand engage the lives of their citizens and  to develop global competitive businesses."

"This event will be an excellent opportunity for participants to come together and share their knowledge, perspectives and experiences. We are encouraged to see the strong support from the GCC at imbXto exchange ICT knowledge," remarked Chan.

"We also look forward to working closely with business professionals from the Middle East and wider Asian markets to discuss and exchange ideas on the use of ICT to strengthen their country market along with supporting the wider global ICT industry," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
