Bahrain's Mahonia to host world’s number 3 chef

MANAMA, February 20, 2019

Mahonia, Bahrain’s leading fine dining degustation restaurant, has announced its second “Four-Hands Dinner” in partnership with Mauro Colagreco, chef patron of the world’s number three restaurant Mirazur, France (The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2018).

Chef Colagreco has recently added another accolade to his impressive list of achievements with the awarding of his third Michelin star.

Chef Colagreco, an Italo-Argentinian residing in France, comes to Bahrain to craft an eight-course gastronomic extravaganza with Mahonia’s own award-winning executive chef Herve Pronzato. For two nights only, on February 28 and March 1, diners will be treated to an exceptional menu that crosses all borders. The one-off menu developed by the two chefs will be matched with exclusive beverage pairings from Mahonia’s expansive cellar as selected by the sommelier.

Colagreco said: “It will be my first visit to Bahrain and I look forward to cooking with chef Herve at Mahonia. My culinary approach is what I describe as “cooking without borders”, with menus that cross the lines between land and sea, herbs and flowers, bitterness and acidity. I look forward to discovering the flavours of Bahrain and creating an unforgettable menu with Herve in Mahonia.”

Among the culinary masterpieces created just for the occasion, guests can expect to savour Chef Mauro’s celebrated signature dish from Mirazur: the salt crusted beetroot with caviar and cream sauce.

Sawsan Baluch, the owner of Mahonia, commented: “We are thrilled to have a global chef of Mauro’s calibre at Mahonia. We have worked hard to make the 'Four-Hands Dinners' happen in Mahonia, in line with our goal of promoting Bahrain as an important culinary destination in the Middle East, and introduce Bahrain’s offerings to new audiences.”

“We are delighted to welcome chef Mauro to Mahonia to continue our “Four-Hands Dinners” series. Mauro’s culinary genius transcends all boundaries, which is also at the heart of Mahonia’s offering," said Pronzato.

At the forefront of the global culinary trends, the 'Four-Hands Dinner' concept brings together culinary artists where the hosting executive chef collaborates with a visiting chef to create a one-time special dinner menu. Both chefs work with new ingredients, mutually creating an extraordinary crossover menu to the delight of gastronomes.

Throughout this year, Mahonia will host a number of chefs from The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list with the “Four-Hands Dinners”. These collaborations cross cultural boundaries and enable chefs to experiment with food and culinary techniques from other countries, present signature dishes and create new ones with the hosting chef. Every event a unique partnership, the diners in Mahonia will discover unusual recipes from around the world. - TradeArabia News Service
