250 global firms for Dubai jewellery show

DUBAI, November 3, 2015

More than 250 companies from 25 countries will take part in the upcoming Dubai International Jewellery Week, a leading jewellery event in the Middle East, which is re-launching as a consumer-focused event this year.

Now in its 20th edition, the four-day jewellery extravaganza will return to Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from December 9 to 12.

“As we celebrate the landmark 20th anniversary of Dubai International Jewellery Week, we are excited to relaunch the show as a purely consumer focused platform for 2015. Market research and positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors has demonstrated the need for an interactive and varied show, which caters to local and international audiences, provides a fantastic shopping experience and supports the continued growth of the jewellery retail sector in the UAE,” said Trixie LohMirmand, senior vice president, Exhibitions & Events Management, DWTC.

“We are confident that Dubai International Jewellery Week will be the ultimate jewellery shopping experience, offering not only a platform for local, regional and international established jewellers to showcase the best of the industry under one roof, but also for up and coming designers to exhibit new designs to discerning audiences,” LohMirmand added.

Figures from Dubai Multi Commodity Centre’s (DMCC) inaugural Middle East Gems and Jewellery Forum peg the gold jewellery consumption in the UAE at an estimated $2.5 billion, which makes it the number one jewellery consuming nation in the Middle East.

According to statistics from the World Gold Council, the UAE is the fifth biggest consumer of gold jewellery. Moreover, the Middle East Gems and Jewellery Forum cites Dubai as one of the world’s top three trading hubs for gold, diamonds and gemstones.

With over 80 different product categories to choose from, Dubai International Jewellery is expected to draw more than 20,000 visitors.

The 20th edition of the show will include a number of new features such as an all-new Designer Avenue showcasing new and upcoming jewellery designers from the region, as well as interactive styling workshops with fashion experts, and a Beauty Hub with Joelle Group offering mini beauty services for women. On December 10, a special treat awaits visitors - Joelle Mardinian will be present for a meet and greet with fans where she will also share a sneak-peak at upcoming make-up and fashion trends.

In addition, the highly anticipated Jewellery Design Awards, now in its seventh year of recognising excellence in design, creativity and innovation, will provide an opportunity to connect up-and-coming designers with consumers.

Top exhibiting brands and companies at Dubai International Jewellery Week include Amwaj, Dhamani Jewels, Hazoorilal Legacy, Mahallati Jewellery,  Nsouli, Salem Al Shueibi, Suzanne Kalan, Temptations, Yessayan and Zela to name a few, from as far afield as Hong Kong,  India, Lebanon, Turkey, UAE and the US.

Additionally, a host of jewellers and jewellery designers are set to exhibit at the show, which will also feature heritage brands, flagship jewellers, boutique offerings, new designers and more affordable brands. - TradeArabia News Service
