Bahrain plans clamp on illegal taxis

MANAMA, September 11, 2014

Traffic authorities in Bahrain are now cracking the whip on illegal taxi drivers who transport passengers in violation of the law, a report said.

Many expatriate workers are using their private vehicles for the trade, endangering people's lives and affecting those of licensed taxi drivers and operators, director of licences affairs at the General Directorate of Traffic Lt-Col Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Wahab Al Khalifa, was quoted as saying by the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

"We are now organising campaigns to detect violators and improve the situation of those working legally in the sector,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
