Bahrain to fast-tract action against terror suspects

Manama, March 13, 2014

Bahrain's Premier yesterday gave directives to fast-track court action against terror suspects.

"The pure blood which was shed for the sake of this nation will not be in vain," said His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

He chaired a security meeting to discuss measures taken to combat terrorism.

He instructed authorities to speed up justice and ensure retribution, stressing the need to eradicate this 'heinous scourge', especially the masterminds of terror and instigators of sedition, who are aiding and abetting terrorists.

Policemen will use the force of law when facing developed terror and criminal tactics, he said.

However, he stressed the need for human rights principles while combating terrorism.

"Even the oldest democracies did not adopt the same civilised approach as Bahrain, refusing any compromise when it comes to their countries' security, stability and sovereignty," he said.

He vowed that Bahrain would not keep silent as terror threatens Bahrainis and their security forces.

"The security of Bahrain comes first and foremost," he said as he was briefed on efforts to combat terror and refer terrorists to court for justice to be done." - TradeArabia News Service
