New committee to study runaway maid issue

Manama, February 17, 2014

A parlimentary proposal to create a governmental committee to study the issue of runaway housemaids and find solutions has been approved by Bahrain's Cabinet.

Two other proposals were also approved and will be implemented with immediate effect, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The other proposal deals with adopting an SMS system in the Interior Ministry to follow up on the residency, passports and citizenship services it provides.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal on developing social centres. - TradeArabia News Service
