Embezzlement pair jailed for 3 years in Bahrain

Manama, February 12, 2014

Two employees of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) have been jailed for three years each for embezzlement.

They were convicted of financial fraud, abusing their positions, embezzling BOC funds, forging offers and attributing them to fictitious companies, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Their co-defendant, also an employee at the BOC, was jailed for two years by the Lower Criminal Court yesterday.

The court also accepted a compensation claim to be filed by the committee at the High Civil Court.

The Public Prosecution earlier launched an investigation following a complaint against the suspects by the BOC.

It ordered a forgery expert to examine the falsified documents and submit a comprehensive report for legal procedures to be initiated. - TradeArabia News Service
