Bahrain 'may cancel visa on arrival'

Manama, August 25, 2011

The visa on arrival facility for foreigners in Bahrain may be withdrawn, said a senior government official.

The general directorate of nationality, passports and residence is considering making them to apply for visa before coming to Bahrain, added Interior Ministry Under-Secretary Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa.

He said some of them recently exploited the facility by indulging in activities in violation of visa regulations.

Shaikh Rashid said the move will not cover diplomats, official delegates, tourists, businessmen and economists who are offered facilities as part of Bahrain’s openness policy to support its economy. – TradeArabia News Service
