LG brings new intelligence to connected living

DUBAI, October 17, 2021

Seeking to be a lifestyle innovator that serves a truly intelligent way of living, LG is deploying its proprietary LG ThinQ technology within its home appliances and accompanying smartphone application.

This is happening at a time when the smart home market in the GCC is expected to increase from $803.40 million in 2020 to $5,477.40 million by 2027, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 31.55% .

Acting as the central nervous system of the smart home, the LG ThinQ app enables users to remotely operate, manage and optimise LG ThinQ-enabled appliances from wherever they may be. With a simple Wi-Fi connection, homeowners can easily connect their appliances to the application, managing all devices from a centralised dashboard. Powered by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), LG ThinQ studies user patterns and preferences for a uniquely personalised experience. The LG ThinQ app also informs users of consumption habits and provides tips and tricks to live more sustainably.

Among, the portfolio of LG ThinQ-enabled washing machines available today, LG’s AI DD series features added benefits for a more intelligent wash cycle. The new technology of the LG Inverter Direct Drive Motor with AI not only detects the weight of laundry, but also the softness of fabrics to automatically determine the most optimal washing pattern. With this feature, LG AI DD washing machines can provide up to 18% less fabric damage, prolonging the life of garments.

Using the LG ThinQ app, homeowners can control and monitor the operation of their washing machine both inside and outside the home via Wi-Fi connectivity, including checking the remaining time on the cycle and receiving a message once the washing is complete. LG ThinQ-enabled washing machines also enable users to download additional wash cycles, ideal for garments requiring special attention.

A common pain point for homeowners with dishwashers results from uncertainty regarding performance and maintenance requirements. LG QuadWash dishwashers feature multi-motion spray arms and high-pressure jets, providing maximum coverage to get dishes clean the first time round. Dishwashers embedded with LG ThinQ technology not only enable remote operation, but also keep users in the know via the smartphone application, which provides updates on the cleaning status and notifies upon completion of a cycle.

To prolong the lifespan of the dishwasher, LG ThinQ also alerts the user when the appliance should be cleaned, avoiding performance issues. In the event that the dishwasher duct is clogged, the LG ThinQ app will inform the user and provide simple steps to get it back in working order with speed and ease.

LG’s InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerators have become synonymous with keeping food fresher for longer, thanks to their intelligent system which reduces cold air loss. To elevate this agenda and offer a truly customised experience, LG ThinQ technology recognises the timings when the refrigerator is most often opened and runs in power mode accordingly to maintain freshness. It also learns when ice is most actively used by those in the home, activating an express function known as Smart Ice Plus ahead of time.

With the LG ThinQ app, users can remotely monitor their refrigerator, adjust the temperature and even receive alerts when the door has been left open. On compatible models, the app can also tell homeowners when it is time to change the refrigerator’s water filter – making maintenance simple for everyone.

With the proliferation of mobile devices and tablets, alongside Internet of Things (IoT) integration, the smart home market continues to expand at rapid pace and scale.-- TradeArabia News Service
