BTECH extends work scope in ICT sector

The Bahrain Society for Technology Companies (BTECH) plans to expand its work scope to incorporate developments in the ICT sector as well as keep pace with changes in business stimulated by the Covid-19 pandemic and its repercussions.

This was discussed during the extraordinary general assembly held by BTECH in the presence of the vice-chairman of the Society Dr Osama AlBaharna, and Secretary-General Rashid Al Snan, and Treasurer Tareq Fakhroo, Board Member SM Hussaini, and Head of the Cybersecurity Committee Mirza Asrar.

They reviewed and discussed the lately performed general activities and discuss forthcoming trends and plans in a way that contributes to enhancing its performance and increasing effectiveness.

Ubaydli Ubaydli, Chairman of BTECH, initiated the meeting by expressing his gratitude to the board for their dedication to achieving the Society's goals and their keenness to participate in its plans and projects actively.

He emphasized his satisfaction with the performance of the Society within the framework of achieving its vision on leading technology companies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and noted the significance of developing the Society's provided services to technology companies to support them to excel in the highly competitive ICT market locally and regionally.

"Covid-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented challenge for all countries, but Bahrain's robust infrastructure in the field of ICT assisted to overcome the negative repercussions of the pandemic. It's extremely substantial to capitalize on this success to reach the desired comprehensive digital economy,” Ubaydli said.

Ahmed Attiya Al Hujairi, BTECH's advisor, affirmed that the Society is moving forward in achieving its fundamental objectives of preparing legislation, drawing up policies and strategies related to the ICT sector, promoting the sector's performance, developing services and products provided by its affiliated ICT companies to expand their services and products.

"We also aim to provide guidance to technology companies operating in Bahrain, to develop fruitful cooperation between ICT companies and programs of education and training institutions in the same sector, and facilitate technology companies' cooperation between each other, and to promote fruitful relationships with its GCC, Arab and international counterparts," Al Hujairi added. – TradeArabia News Service
