Thuraya to showcase key solutions at US summit

DUBAI, October 30, 2016

Dubai-based Thuraya Telecommunications, a leading mobile satellite services (MSS) operator, and its machine-to-machine (M2M) service partner, X2nSat, are jointly taking part in the Rural Smart Grid Summit, which opened in Florida, US.

US-based X2nSat is a leading provider of reliable wireless network and communications solutions.

The event which kicked off today (October 30) will conclude on November 1, at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.

At the event, Thuraya will be showcasing its latest FT2225 M2M Terminal – the company’s first terminal to operate in North America by utilising the powerful ViaSat mobile satellite services network, said a statement from the company.

The Thuraya M2M Service helps enhance service reliability, while improving the security of the grid. It offers exceptionally efficient bandwidth usage and low-latency IP networking, it said.

The FT2225 always-on connectivity enables real time monitoring and control to extend smart grid and substation monitoring applications in the utilities sectors, it added.

JR Francis, the regional director for North America at Thuraya, said: “One of the key technology requirements for smart grids, as stated by the US Department of Energy, is ‘integrated two-way communications’ which makes our M2M terminals an ideal solution.”

“Our company’s M2M service addresses the M2M/ IoT market requirement for a highly efficient, low latency IP network. Solutions integrated with the Thuraya M2M service reduce total cost of ownership, and are supported by a market-leading 99.9 per cent service level agreement,” he said.

“The M2M network offers IP connectivity, two-way communications with end-to-end highly secure AES256 encryption,” he added.

Jena Kramer, director of marketing at X2nSat, said: “We are pleased to be exhibiting the Thuraya terminal, which has become a primary element in our upcoming FlexCom line of L-band solutions.”

“Since our partnership with Thuraya began earlier this year, we’ve garnered a lot of interest from the utilities sector, so sharing our experience and use cases with this audience is a logical fit,” she added.

Francis added: “X2nSat was the first company to sign a service partner agreement to offer our dedicated M2M service and terminal to customers in North America.”

“With a proven track record in providing network and communications solutions, X2nSat is the trusted partner of choice for us in this region,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
