Sultan and Farah ... strategic tie-up

Western Union, du to offer services benefits

DUBAI, July 27, 2016

The Western Union Company, a leader in global payment services, has signed an agreement with du, a leading telecom provider in the UAE, aiming to pursue joint efforts to benefit subscribers.

The agreement was signed by Osman Sultan, CEO, du, and Jean-Claude Farah, executive vice president and president, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe and CIS, Western Union, at a ceremony held in Dubai, UAE on July 27.

The agreement will benefit users of Western Union and du in the UAE, through joint initiatives that will leverage Western Union’s market leadership and relationships with different communities, as well as du’s position as the telecom service provider of choice.

The alliance aims to offer relevant and interesting propositions to consumers, giving them value-added services, while keeping in mind their need to be connected with their loved ones—often by sending money back home and calling back home.

Western Union and du also launched the My WUSM du loyalty card, the first initiative to be rolled out under the agreement established by the two organizations.

“This agreement with du represents a milestone for Western Union, and is a continuation of our extensive engagement with local communities in the UAE and the region,” said Farah. “Western Union has an active user base in the UAE, and aligning our service portfolio and nationwide reach to du’s strong telecom subscriber base will enable both of our organizations to offer an integrated proposition that brings greater value to our mutual users.”

“The launch of the My WU du loyalty card demonstrates our shared commitment to create targeted activities that have a positive impact on the lives of consumers in the UAE, and is the first of many more joint initiatives to come,” he added.

“Our collaboration is a step in the right direction as it emphasizes and deepens our commitment to our vision of enhancing the quality of life, and we look forward to what we can accomplish together in this long standing collaboration with WU,” said Sultan.

“The My WU du loyalty card is designed especially for our Alo prepaid users, and provides outstanding value and benefits that create a real difference in their lives.”

My WUSM du loyalty card comes bundled with “alo” prepaid SIM packs. On registering this loyalty card with Western Union, consumers will get double reward points on every international money transfer which can be redeemed as a discount on next transfer fee up to 10 free international minutes. Alo SIM cards are available across an extensive network of authorized dealers in the UAE, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
