Egypt floats tender for virtual servers

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications has launched a tender for technological infrastructure hosting services on virtual servers in a bid to speed up services to various government agencies, a report said.

The move also aims to activate the pay-for-use model for government services, added the Daily News Egypt report.

The deadline for applications for the tender for the three-year contract is November 15, with implementation to begin within a month from the date of issuing the order, according to the report.

The tender included other components, such as 1,450 basic processing units, 15,000 extra storage units, 1,305 Windows operating licences and 145 Linux operating licences, as well as 190 Microsoft SQL server licences, 80 licences to for SharePoint server and 30 Internet lines with speeds of 1 MB and 30 internet lines of 5 MB, the report added.
