Ericsson displays smart city tech at FTTH 2015

MUSCAT, November 9, 2015

Ericsson will showcase best practice solutions in smart city technologies at the two-day Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Mena Conference and Exhibition that opened in Muscat, Oman today (November 9).

Oman is hosting seventh edition of the annual FTTH Mena under the slogan of “FTTH, the Edge of a Brighter Tomorrow”.

Ericsson will showcase future solutions which converge mobile and fixed line service layers onto one common platform.  Ericsson will also demonstrate how its managed services have evolved to drive enhanced customer experiences through its Fiber Network Management solutions.

During the conference, the challenges of Fibre Network Deployment will be addressed, and Ericsson will offer tangible solutions that will pave the way forward to the Networked Society where everything that can benefit from connectivity will be connected.

Rafiah Ibrahim, president of Ericsson, Region Middle East and Africa, said: “It’s exciting to see Oman’s accomplishments in driving fibre-to-the-home adoption throughout the Sultanate.”

“As we drive our Networked Society vision, our aim is to collaborate with operators throughout the region to drive industry transformation through infrastructure upgrades and the introduction of new technologies. Our participation in FTTH allowed us to showcase the best practices of our smart city technologies that are directly in-line with Oman’s 2020 vision,” she added.

FTTH Council Middle East and North Africa event is taking place at Grand Hyatt Muscat Hotel under the patronage of Dr Ahmed Al-Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications of Oman. – TradeArabia News Service
