Hermes Datacomms opens new office in Iraq

IRAQ, May 13, 2015

Hermes Datacomms, a leading global provider of i, part of the SpeedCast Group, has announced the opening of its new office in Erbil, Iraq.

The new facility is in direct response to increasing demand for services from the oil and gas sector in Iraq and will enable the company to deliver a higher level of service and support in this rapidly growing market, said a statement from the company.
 
Hermes Datacomms possesses over 25 years of experience in providing global satellite communication and networking services to the oil and gas industry, and has been operating in the Middle East for over 10 years, it added.

In 2011, the company was awarded a trading licence for Iraq and since then has been working with partners to deliver turnkey projects involving fibre and last mile access as well as VSAT services, fixed, mobile and microwave services.
 
Osama Oulabi, business unit manager, Middle East, said: “Iraq has been a strategic market for Hermes for the past three years. With the opening of the company’s newest office in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region of Northern Iraq, we are well-positioned for growth in the region.”
 
“This augments our existing presence in the Middle East, with our two other offices, in Dubai and in Basra, Southern Iraq,” he said.

“We are keen to expand our resources within Iraq and wanted to demonstrate our commitment to our customers in the region, to support them on a local level, with local engineers on hand and 24/7 service and support,” he added.
 
Hermes Datacomms currently provides communications to 16 sites, supporting major operators and service companies in the region, said the statement.
