Bahrain IT expo to focus on technological innovations

MANAMA, March 10, 2015

A key exhibition featuring GCC, European and Asian companies to discuss new technologies and innovations will be held next week in Bahrain.

The Bahrain IT Expo 2015 will run from March 17 to 19 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The event is being held under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) chairman, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

The organising committee said yesterday they have set up three large halls at the BIC's Paddock building to exhibit the latest smart services and solutions showcased by businesses, governmental entities, non-governmental organisations and global companies. .

The event aims to encourage innovation to help small and medium enterprises as well as youth to utilise technology and strengthen Bahrain's position as a digital hub and support the national economy.

The European Union and the National Association of Software and Services Companies will take part for the first time this year.

A special area to showcase youth's smart ideas to benefit companies is also set up along with an eGame Space.

The YouthTech Society Othman Al Abbasi said young Bahrainis have a passion for technology and expected their active participation during the event.

The IT Expo runs concurrently with eight workshops organised by the eGovernment Authority in collaboration with Bahrain Society of Engineers, Project Management Institute - Bahrain's Chapter, and YouthTech Society. - TradeArabia News Service
