Bahrain to host Arab ICT forum this month

MANAMA, October 9, 2014

Bahrain is set to host the Arab Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Forum 2014, it has emerged.

The two-day event will be held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers centre in Juffair, Bahrain on October 21 and 22, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

It is organised by the ICT committee of the Federation of Arab Engineers and BSE under the patronage of Central Informatics Organisation president and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) chairman Dr Mohammed Al Amer.

The theme of the forum is adding value to human lives through ICT development and the topics to be discussed are: sustainable development, the new skill sets required to manage the new technologies, big data, cloud computing, business intelligence trends, augmented reality for business and government, 5G technology and its impact on the way we live, the Internet of things, the opportunity and the challenge, are we ready for the Internet of things?, the Internet of things: security perspective, telecommunications sector at a glance - 2014, ICT in education - challenges and perspectives, modern technologies in libraries and information centres, information and communication computing using intelligent agent orientation, IT strategic planning and governance toolkit: a pilot study of government sector in Bahrain, Batelco FTTx journey, the role of fibre optics in ICT and advancing development through social media.

The forum has drawn speakers from Bahrain and abroad, representing organisations such as the International Telecommunications Union Regional Office for the Arab States, Alba, Gulf Air, Oracle, Affno, Ericsson, GBM, ITS, Applied Science University, TRA, Palestine Technical University, Bahrain University, Batelco and Social Media Club Bahrain. - TradeArabia News Service
