Ericsson to offer telecom solutions to Egypt electricity sites

Ericsson, a leader in communication technology and services, has won a contract from Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity to provide end-to-end telecom solutions and services for 180 electricity sites in Upper and Middle Egypt on a turnkey basis.
 
Through this deal, Egyptian residents in Upper and Middle Egypt will be able to benefit from more reliable electricity services based on the advanced electricity sites that Ericsson will manage in co-operation with the Egyptian Maintenance Company.
The technologies supplied by Ericsson will include the Mini-Link Microwave System, Network Management Solution, and Internet Protocol (IP) System, renovation of existing towers and construction of new towers.
 
Ericsson will also provide a full set of services, inclusive of site survey and preparation, installation and commissioning, spare parts management, reporting and documentation. 
 
It is aimed at helping improve the efficiency of the electricity sites reducing energy consumption, increasing control, and increasing the lifecycle of the stations.
 
Dr Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Power in Egypt , said: “Ericsson has a well-established reputation in Egypt, making them the ideal partner to renovate the country’s telecom infrastructure into a more energy-efficient system offering Egyptian citizens more stable electricity services in Upper and Middle Egypt.”
