Gulf Air extends partnership with Viva

Manama, May 18, 2014

Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has signed an agreement with Viva Bahrain, extending the airline’s partnership with the telecommunications provider to include acquisition of 355 iPad devices as part of Gulf Air’s proposed roll-out of iPad Electronic Flight Bags.

In a meeting between both organizations’ executive management teams, at Gulf Air’s headquarters, future plans for critical ICT (Information and Communication Technology) services and solutions were discussed, said a statement.

Gulf Air acting chief executive officer  Maher Salman AlMusallam said: “We are proud of our existing strategic relationship with Viva Bahrain and pleased to extend this partnership to include the provision of iPad devices as part of Gulf Air’s Electronic Flight Bag project. This is an essential component of our ongoing commitment to all new technology that provides integrated solutions for managing information in the air and on the ground.”

Gulf Air director information technology Dr Jassim Haji stated: “At Gulf Air we always endeavour to leverage the latest technologies in order to improve the efficiency of the airline’s operations and provide better services to our passengers. This collaboration ensures we deliver the latest technology to our team and, as a result, to our passengers.”

Ulaiyan Al Wetaid, Viva Bahrain CEO, said: “Further strengthening our long lasting partnership, we are delighted that Gulf Air has chosen Viva to provide the latest devices that will assist in the successful execution of their iPad Electronic Flight Bags project.”

The Electronic Flight Bag project should eliminate the need for heavy paper-based manuals, provide easier and faster access to data while significantly enhancing the national carrier’s operations and services, the statement said. - TradeArabia News Service
