Etisalat, Huawei in consultancy deal

Etisalat, the UAE’s leading telecom provider, has signed a deal with Huawei Technologies to develop fixed and mobile communications networks for integrated ICT services.
 
Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Etisalat with a range of consulting services, which involve developing Etisalat’s capabilities for offering mobile broadband (MBB), fixed broadband (FBB), internet protocol television (IPTV) and the launch of first commercial eMBMS (LTE Video based on Multicast and Broadcast) services in the Mena region. 
 
Saeed Al Zarouni, senior vice president, Business Planning and Technology Evolution, Etisalat, said: "Etisalat is committed to constantly upgrading its existing networks and infrastructure and building the internal capabilities by entering into strategic partnerships with specialised international companies that hold long standing experience in consulting and implementing major telecommunication projects to the highest international standards. 
 
“This agreement will enhance our competitiveness in the telecom market and make us pioneers in offering the latest MBB and FBB services.
 
“Furthermore, Etisalat is keen to provide its customers with the best broadband connectivity and enhanced user experience. This will enable our corporate customers to optimise their business models and enhance profitability, and residential customers to enjoy enhanced user experience while using different mobile applications, in addition to creating the Smart City ecosystem in the UAE."
 
The agreement will provide the general framework to exchange knowledge and technical expertise in developing systems and infrastructure that deliver better performance, quality, increased coverage and speed, while enhancing user experience in data transfer, high speed broadband and accessing e-government services via mobile phones. - TradeArabia News Service
