Bahrain TRA wins top European certificate

Manama, April 12, 2014

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in Bahrain has succeeded in an evaluation by an assessor from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and has been awarded with a certificate for EFQM Commitment To Excellence.

The foundation set up a team of experts, from industry and academia, to develop the EFQM Excellence Model, a holistic framework than can be applied to any organization, regardless of size or sector.

This was first used to support the assessment of organizations in the European Quality Award in 1992.

Commenting on the win, Faisal Al Jalahma, the director of finance and human resources for TRA said: “Any organization is only as good as the people that run it.”

“The success of the EFQM evaluation is a direct result of the collective effort and significant dedication of the TRA’s young Bahraini outstanding cadres,” he added.

The EFQM was founded in October 1989 when the CEO/Presidents of 67 European companies declared their commitment to achieving EFQM mission and vision.

TRA general director Mohamed Bubashait said: “This is a proud moment for the TRA. We are the first organization in Bahrain to be officially recognized by the EFQM for Commitment To Excellence."

Since its establishment in 2002, the TRA has been working with government, consumers, operators and investors to develop the country into the region’s most modern communications hub and to facilitate the growth of the market.

"This achievement stands as evidence to the irrefutable commitment the TRA has to its mission, and establishes us as an exemplar for others to follow," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
