Bahrain TRA to host ITU symposium

Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has signed a deal to host the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) 14th Global Symposium for Regulators in June.
 
The signing took place at the ongoing World Telecommunication Development Conference in Dubai.
 
The TRA discussed and agreed on crucial steps in improving broadband infrastructure on a global scale at the conference.
 
Other topics on the agenda include accessibility for people with special needs, e-education, transitioning to digital broadcasting, cyber-security and child online protection.
 
The WTDC, which is ITU Development Sector’s major decision making conference, is held every four years.
 
The ITU is the United Nation’s specialised agency for information and communication technologies. 
 
The conference, which will run till April 10, is aimed at establishing work programmes and guidelines for defining telecommunication development questions and priorities and to provide direction and guidance for the work programme of the Telecommunication Development Sector over the next four-year period. - TradeArabia News Service
