Bahrain to host ITU symposium

Manama, March 23, 2014

Bahrain is set to host the ITU's 14th annual Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) from June 2 to 5, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced yesterday (March 22).

The ITU is the telecommunications arm of the United Nations and the Global Symposium of Regulators is one of the most important regulatory events in the world, according to the report in the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

For this reason, their selection of the kingdom is considered a great success to the TRA.

The ITU's Global Symposium for Regulators 2014 focuses on the theme of "Capitalising on the Potential of the Digital World", and as a prestigious, globally recognised, hallmark event, the GSR-14 will attract world leaders in the telecommunications industry to Bahrain as well as the attention of the international media community.

The GSR-14 further establishes the kingdom as a strong regional centre for telecommunications and ICT, and nominees attending the GSR-14 will witness the Bahrain's and TRA's impact in shaping the future of ICT, while experiencing a turning point in the GSR journey, and raising the bar of standards for future ITU events. – TradeArabia News Service
