Batelco to roll out fibre network at Bahrain Bay

Batelco, Bahrain’s leading integrated telecom service provider, has signed a deal with with Bahrain Bay to roll out its fibre access network in the development.
 
The initiative is part of Batelco’s efforts to make its fixed services available to customers located in the new development areas, said a statement.
 
The Bahrain Bay Development will host a number of hotels, banks and high-profile enterprise customers, besides various residential building projects, it said.
 
Batelco aims at ensuring availablity of its entire portfolio of enterprise and consumer products, including voice, private leased circuits, broadband and IPTV. 
 
The network will also be designed to provide customers with fully redundant services to ensure business continuity, high service availability and uninterrupted services to the customers running crucial time sensitive operations, said the statement.
 
Rashed Abdulla, chief executive, said: “We are using the most advanced Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology in designing the infrastructure that will serve the needs and requirements of customers in this newly developed area.”
 
“Our investment in a GPON network will provide the platform necessary to support future ultra high bandwidth services which are expected to be introduced in the near future,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
