11 killed in India building collapse

MUMBAI, August 4, 2015

At least 11 people were killed and seven injured when a building collapsed in the Thane district of India's Maharashtra state this morning.

Officials said more than 15 people could be still trapped inside the building. Rescue operations are currently under way.

The building, located in the Mumbai suburb of Thane, was more than 50 years old and had been damaged by the recent heavy rain.

Today's incident comes just one week after nine people were killed after another three-storey building collapsed during the heavy monsoon.
