
Dutch Queen abdicates, son to become king
Amsterdam, January 29, 2013
Dutch Queen Beatrix announced she would abdicate in favour of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander, in a televised broadcast to the nation on Monday evening.
Willem-Alexander, 45, will become King of the Netherlands on April 30, she said, adding that she considered he was ready for the role. Queen Beatrix turns 75 on Thursday. – Reuters
