Software helps firms make hiring decisions

DUBAI, February 7, 2022

Mercer, one of the world's largest consulting firms, and Bayt.com, the region’s largest job site, have partnered to revolutionise regional talent assessment practices through a software.

Now on UAE employers will be able to test more than 3,000 skills and learn exact salary information before making a hiring decision.

The two firms have offered a software that is likely to significantly impact the hiring, promotion, and remuneration practices in the Mena (the Middle East and North Africa) region by providing employers with objective and skill-based assessment tools and transparent salary databases.

The software is intended to allow employers in the Mena region to hire appropriate candidates and to fairly assess their skills based on systematic and precise criteria.

Using this technology, employers will analyse a candidate's technical and non-technical skills, along with their personality traits, in order to understand their role-fit, their culture-fit, and their long-term career potential. As a result, they can recruit candidates based on objective data and avoid biases.

Among the software’s acclaimed benefits:
•It tests over 3,000 skills and handles more than one million questions.
•It covers more than 25 industries and over 200 job profiles.
•It includes Psychometric and Technical assessments.

Ted Raffoul, Career and Workforce Products Business Leader Mena at Mercer said: “Implementing these assessments will be a revolutionary move in recruitment practices all over the Middle East. Recruiting suitable candidates based on role-specific tests will help increase employees’ job-fit and subsequently improve organisational competitiveness and strengthen the workforce.”

Ahmed Adwan, Director of Employer Solutions at Bayt.com adds: “Another benefit from using tests is the reduction of favoritism and ensuring transparent and fair hiring decisions. Such assessments will also aid companies in promoting employees and building career succession plans based on employees’ skills and performance.”

Along with launching this assessment platform, a Total Remuneration Survey (TRS) will also be available for the region. Organisations will participate in this survey to declare the salary structure for their job positions and in turn obtain access to competitor salary schemes and benchmarks. This will be an important move for companies to maintain transparency and fair payment practices.-- TradeArabia News Service
