UAE, December 11, 2019

The Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) has launched an initiative to support women in business during its participation in the 2nd Women's Economic Empowerment Global Summit 2019 (WEEGS), being held in Sharjah, UAE.

The two-day event is being held at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre, and will conclude today (December 11).

On the first day of summit, Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, director of SAIF Zone, launched “Women in Business” Programme, which is one of the free zone’s leading initiatives meant to help businesswomen achieve their professional dreams and turn their ideas into real projects.

The programme will give them the opportunity to set up their businesses at SAIF Zone, said a statement from SAIF Zone.

Themed ‘Drivers of Change’, the event is being held under the patronage of HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment.

More than 50 local and international speakers representing civil society organisations, government bodies and a number of experts concerned with the empowerment of women are taking part in the summit, which is being organised by NAMA Women Advancement Establishment in collaboration with the UN Women.

“Launching the programme at such a big event reaffirms SAIF Zone’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs and offering them numerous facilities and multiple options. It will not only enable them to achieve their professional aspirations, but also launch into the world of business,” said Al Mazrouei.

“Emirati women have become an integral part of any successful business and the backbone of the Emirati business community,” he noted, adding that the programme will definitely contribute to boosting women’s contributions to the social and economic life, in line with the UAE Centennial Plan 2071.

Al Mazrouei continued: “At the summit, we are taking part through a special pavilion, which introduces female entrepreneurs to our unmatched services and facilities and responds to their inquiries with regard to investment mechanisms at SAIF Zone.”

“It will also introduce visitors to the programme, which offers a wide range of facilities and investment options in different sectors and give businesswomen the opportunity to take advantage of free zone’s competitive services,” he added.

During the summit, SAIF Zone outlined the most prominent services, privileges and incentives offered by its programme. These include up to 15 per cent discounts in the first three years of setting up the business, professional training program delivered by a group of experts and specialists in tax collection, value-added tax and customs clearance, as well as a number of training courses, in addition to commercial, administrative and legal consultations.

Other incentives also feature fast and easy transaction process through a special service window tailored for businesswomen, dedicated marketing outlet to showcase their products (SAIF Mall), land plots, warehouse solutions, commercial suites and offices equipped with all services, it said.
