Airbus to showcase wide portfolio at Idex

ABU DHABI, February 13, 2019

Airbus, an international pioneer in the aerospace industry, will display a wide portfolio of products and solutions from Airbus Defence and Space and Airbus Helicopters at the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Idex) to be held next week, in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The event will take place from February 17 to 21.
 
As one of the largest defence and security exhibition, Idex offers an ideal platform to showcase Airbus’ capabilities and to connect and engage with international delegates and key decision-makers from the region including government heads, military and armed forces representatives.
 
Airbus Defence and Space will display a mock up of the A330MRTT, the aircraft that dominates the transport/tanker market outside the US and has been ordered by 12 nations including Saudi Arabia and the UAE, said a company statement.

A total of 35 aircraft have been delivered out of 60 on order. It is combat proven in coalition operations and has completed more than 170,000 flight hours in service, refuelling virtually all current front-line fighters.
 
An A400M will also be showcased at Airbus booth, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the A400M can perform strategic and tactical transport missions. Also featured will be the world record holding Zephyr, Airbus’ solar-electric stratospheric unmanned aircraft that combines the advantage of a satellite with the flexibility and persistence of a UAV.
 
Airbus Defence and Space will also demonstrate a smart maritime centre which transform data to actionable knowledge, with dedicated solutions, as STYRIS, its coastal surveillance system, deployed in 55 countries; OceanFinder, a web platform to directly order satellite-based maritime detection and identification reports; I4D, a set of systems for multi-source data management, visualisation, analysis and fusion, allowing smart decision making.
 
Airbus Helicopters will present a mock-up of the VSR700 rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which can bring beyond the horizon surveillance capability to naval ships. The NH90 NFH, which fits the widest range of warships and is a highly versatile naval helicopter, can also be viewed at Airbus booth.

Airbus has enjoyed a strong and positive presence in the Middle East since it first opened its offices more than four decades ago. Over the years, Airbus has initiated a number of strategic partnerships in the region that have contributed to the development of the industry by providing the best of expertise, services and products.
