EcoWaste 2019 draws strong regional, global response

ABU DHABI, January 16, 2019

The sixth EcoWaste exhibition, dedicated to advancing sustainable waste management practices and recycling in the region, is witnessing strong regional and global participation.

Organised by Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) in partnership with Masdar as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the event is underway from January 14 to 17 at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

The exhibition that focuses on the latest innovations in the field has drawn praise from exhibitors and delegates for its high-level organisation. The participants have also commended EcoWASTE’s role in promoting state-of-the-art technologies and best practices in sustainable waste management in line with the highest international standards.

Dr Khaled Khouri, CEO, Cleanco Waste Treatment, said: “We are proud to be part of this world-class event that brings together leading industry experts and solution providers. EcoWaste offers us a unique platform to share our experience in collecting, transporting and treating medical and hazardous waste in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner.”

Rami Abu Hayah, general manager of Cubic Art-Pixels (CAP), said: “The exhibition serves as an ideal forum for CAP to showcase its latest technologies, innovations and systems to a global audience, and explore industry best practices through connecting with leading experts, decision-makers and strategic partners.”

Mohamed Nabih El Zeftawi, general manager of Al Masaood Commercial Vehicles & Equipment (CV&E) Division, said: “Our participation in EcoWaste aligns with our mandate to provide eco-friendly products that ensure effective use of resources and reduce environmental impact. The Al Masaood CV&E Division pavilion is exhibiting the UD Quester, a new generation of heavy-duty trucks used for waste management purposes, launched in the region in 2016. The brand-new vehicle sets a benchmark for fuel economy and has a positive impact on our environment.”

A major highlight of EcoWaste 2019 is ‘From Waste to Art’, an exhibition of artworks made from recycled waste by prominent Greek artist Nikos Floros, collaboratively hosted by Tadweer and the Embassy of Greece in the UAE.

Speaking on the exhibition, Floros said: “I am proud to participate in this high-calibre event, which is my first outing in the region. I thank the organisers of EcoWaste for adding an artistic touch to the exhibition while raising awareness about the importance of recycling among all segments of society.”

Tadweer is the key government entity responsible for all activities related to the development of waste management services in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste in a safe, efficient and economical manner.

The centre is also tasked with carrying out pest control, educating communities about the significance of protecting the environment, and encouraging them to adopt sound environmental habits to drive sustainable development. - TradeArabia News Service
