MANAMA, September 9, 2018

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based aluminium smelter, recently held a Mini Town Hall session which gave a brief overview of Line 6 Expansion Project’s progress along with an update on safety and overall market conditions.

The company is on course to have Line 6 Safe Start-Up and First Hot Metal on January 1, 2019, said a statement from Alba.

Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “As we are progressing to commission and start Line 6, preparations have stepped-up at all levels to meet the critical milestones and achieve the First Hot Metal on January 1.”

“With uncertainty in the market and as volatility continues to dominate aluminium prices, our efforts should be focused and aligned to translate our dream into having our company as the world’s largest smelter,” he added.

The CEO speech also focussed on key aspects that will sustain the growth of the company – Line 6 as a unique opportunity for the future of Alba; importance of applying the highest levels of ownership in all aspects of tasks, and effective mentoring and coaching of new employees who have recently joined Alba for the Safe Start Up of Line 6.
