Alba Line 6 Expansion Project well on track

MANAMA, May 9, 2018

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based aluminium smelter, is progressing at full speed with the construction of its landmark Line 6 Expansion Project, according to Alba chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa.

He was speaking at the second quarterly meeting of the board of directors for this year, held today (May 9), at Alba.

Shaikh Daij said: “We are very pleased with the overall progress of Line 6 Expansion Project; to date, Line 6 Smelter exceeded 54 per cent while power station 5 advanced 59 per cent and power distribution system 87 per cent.”

“With the construction brimming on site in 2018, we remain committed to deliver the project in a timely and safe manner,” he added.

During the meeting, the board approved the minutes of the previous meeting, which was held on February 8.  

In addition, the board reviewed reports of the executive committee, board audit committee and the nomination and remuneration committee. Further updates were given on Alba’s safety and financial performance, Line 6 Expansion Project overall progress, Project Titan – Phase III along with overall Industry Market trends, said a statement.

In addition to Shaikh Daij, the Alba board of directors comprises six directors appointed by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company –Yousif Abdulla Taqi; Osama Mohammed Al Arrayedh; Yaser E Humaidan; Dr Mohamed Kameshki; and Suha Karzoon.

The two directors appointed by Sabic Industrial Investments Company (SIIC) are Ahmed Mohammad A Al Jabr and Ali Al Shamrani and two independent directors, Uwaidh Al Harethi and Mutlaq Al-Morished, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
