Omani firms to showcase offerings at Doha mall

MUSCAT, February 21, 2018

A total of 28 leading Omani fashion, craft and food businesses will showcase their latest offerings at the Ezdan Mall in Doha, Qatar, from March 1 to 4.

Organised by Oman-based Ithraa, a leading inward investment export development agency, and Riyada in partnership with Oman’s embassy in Qatar, the four-day show is an outstanding opportunity for small Omani businesses working in the craft, fashion and food sector to penetrate the lucrative Qatari market and increase the sultanate’s exports of jewellery, silverware, food as well as unique and contemporary cosmetics and fragrances, said a statement.

Nasima Al Balushi, Ithraa’s director general of export development and acting director general of investment promotion, said: “Oman’s craft, fashion and food industry is dominated by small businesses. However, given the underlying skill and talent in this sector and the positive market reputation it has.”

“We are confident the exhibition will prove popular with the Qatari public,” she said.

According to Ithraa management, the opportunity to participate in the Doha show has been extremely well received by local businesses, it said.

Al Balushi continued: “We believe there are significant opportunities for Omani craft, fashion and food businesses to break into new markets both at home and abroad, securing valuable orders and creating new jobs.”

“In this regard, we are fully committed to helping Oman’s small business community with market intelligence, access to international trade representatives through to business and export advice,” she added.

Khalid Al Haribi, acting CEO, Riyada, said: “Consumers around the world are beginning to realise the importance of provenance and are searching out authentic products. Indeed, Oman’s long history and reputation for first-class craft, fashion and food is beginning to be recognized and this is offering small, local companies some very exciting commercial possibilities.”

Al Balushi said: “The Ezdan Mall exhibition will give savvy Qatari shoppers the opportunity to discover the wonders of Omani craftsmanship, fashion and food.”

“We are very excited about the event. Indeed, we are confident it will be a grand success,” she concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
