Denmark-based Grundfos, a leading pump manufacturer globally, recently marked its first 20 years in Turkey with a special celebration at its Gebze office.

Since establishing a permanent base in the country on January 13, 1998, Grundfos Turkey has grown from a small operation employing just a few staff, into a highly respected market-leading company, said a statement.

With 80 staff and a national network of 120 sales and service partner companies it now sells, distributes and services its pumps and associated controls throughout Turkey and the surrounding area, it said.

Central to Grundfos’ rapid growth in Turkey has been a keenness to work closely with distributors and dealers, to create a professional network where customers can expect to receive the same level of professional help and advice before and after they purchase any Grundfos pump, it added.

Training the country’s engineers and plumbers to install and service their pumps and control systems correctly has also been a major goal for the company.

In 2009, therefore, it opened its famous Grundfos Academy in Gebze to raise awareness of pump systems and provide training for manufacturing, process and construction professionals – to date well over a thousand trainees have passed through its doors, said a statement.

Through supporting distributor events and major national exhibitions, the company is continuing to develop its brand, and promote the latest developments in pump technology – including state-of-the-art ‘intelligent’ pumping systems which have the ability to adapt automatically to address changes in process demand, delivering ultimate levels of efficiency and cost reduction for users, it stated.

Grundfos Turkey general manager Burak Gürkan said: “Like much of the surrounding Middle East, Turkey’s manufacturing and agricultural sectors in the late 1990’s were blighted by old and inefficient pumping technology that was hampering a move to increase process efficiency at a time of rapid expansion.”

“Our focus on energy efficiency and advanced solutions has proved to be significant factor in overcoming this problem,” he said.

“Today, we are major suppliers to industry, water utilities and the construction sector throughout Turkey and, together with our very buoyant OEM business, we are already number one throughout the country in terms of total sales turnover,” he added.

“We have supplied pumping solutions for many of the country’s leading projects, including 3rd Airport of Istanbul (Istanbul Grand Airport) and the new Presidential Complex in Ankara and are continuing to work closely with engineers and specifiers on plans for a number of future mega-projects,” Gürkan concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
