Tadweer to sign new projects at Abu Dhabi event

ABU DHABI, January 9, 2018

Tadweer (the Center of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi) has revealed plans to sign a number of high-profile projects for Abu Dhabi during the fifth edition of EcoWASTE Exhibition, to be held next week, in the emirate.

With a future-centric agenda committed to advancing sustainable waste management and recycling across the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), Abu Dhabi is gearing up to host the exhibition from January 15 to 18, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The event will be hosted by Masdar, as part of the annual Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and in strategic partnership with Tadweer.

The exhibition will also feature the Waste Management Solutions Forum, which will take place on January 17.

Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, UAE, will deliver the opening address, highlighting the role of waste management in creating sustainable environments, said a statement.

In addition, Eng Saeed Al Mehairbi, acting general manager, Tadweer, will deliver the keynote address on Abu Dhabi’s waste management strategy.

The upcoming projects include: contract for controlling the emission of methane gas from Al Dhafra Landfill; investment project for used cooking oil recycling facility; investment project for management and treatment of medical and hazardous waste in Al Ain region; investment project for management and treatment of medical and hazardous waste in Abu Dhabi and Al Dhafra region, it said.

Additionally, Tadweer will host daily seminars during the exhibition on pertinent topics such as implementation of best practices for sustainable waste management, smart bins, waste-to-energy and the exclusive Tadweer Student Awareness Programme, it added.

Al Mehairbi said: “The exhibition has successfully established itself as a leading platform on waste management in the region.”

“The event will bring together businesses, policymakers, municipalities, innovators, and thought leaders discussing the pressing issues of waste management and recycling in the face of mass urbanisation,” he said.

“In line with Abu Dhabi’s strategic goal of creating a sustainable environment through effective waste management policies and strategies, Tadweer will unveil several new projects and initiatives at the exhibition,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
