Bahri adds new vessel to multipurpose fleet

RIYADH, July 19, 2017

National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), a leader in logistics and transportation, has further expanded its multipurpose fleet with the addition of ‘Aslaf’, a 300,000-dwt carrier built by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea.

Bahri took delivery of the new vessel at HHI’s Mokpo shipyard in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, bringing the number of VLCCs in its fleet to 39 while increasing its total fleet size to 86, said a statement from the company.

Ali Al Harbi, acting CEO of Bahri, said: “This marks yet another milestone for Bahri and reinforces our preeminent position in the global oil transportation industry.”

“Aslaf is the third VLCC to join our fleet this year following the delivery of ‘Amjad’ in February and ‘Maharah’ in June,” he said.

“This addition is part of Bahri’s plan to continue to improve its operational excellence and commercial flexibility and maintain its status as a first-class owner and operator ensuring maximum customer satisfaction,” he added.

Over the years, Bahri has emerged as the preferred shipping partner for reputable cargo owners across the globe given its reliable transport services, safe operations, fleet size and customer centricity, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
