Arabia Holdings wins key ISO certification

UAE, June 18, 2017

Intertek, a leading total quality assurance provider to industries worldwide, has awarded UAE-based Arabia Holdings the ISO 39001:2012 certification, in recognition of its road traffic safety (RTS) management system.

Arabia Holdings is a leading business group operating in the UAE that encapsulates a number of business activities ranging from transportation, trading, IT solutions, logistics, contracting, food and beverage, advertisement and branding to landscape and irrigation.

This certification is applicable to Arabia Holdings' associated businesses including Arabia Taxi (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman, RAK); Union Taxi (Sharjah); Citi Taxi (Sharjah); Al Hamra Limousine (RAK); Al Hamra Taxi (RAK); and Al Hamra Bus (RAK) fleets operated for public transportation in UAE, said a statement from the company.

Intertek's audit team has awarded the company its certification after completing an independent assessment of their safety measures relevant to automotive safety, from speed and vehicle condition to driver awareness, it said.

The RTS Management System has been developed and implemented by Trans Middle East Management Consultancy (TMMC), an Arabia Holdings’ Group Company, it added.

The certification, which is accredited by Accredia – Italy, specifies requirements for an RTS management system which enables an organisation to interact with the road traffic system, allowing for the implementation of appropriate policies, objectives and action plans within its operations, said a statement.

It creates a systematic process approach whose aim it is to create safer roads, reduce and ultimately eliminate road traffic accidents. This standard is an effective tool for companies to reduce insurance and operational costs, as well as strengthen public safety.

Xavier Héry, regional managing director of Middle East and Pakistan, Intertek, dubbed the ISO certification as a major milestone for Arabia Holdings Group.

“We are dedicated to providing audits and certifications that assure the adoption of high quality standards across operational and management functions at any organisation,” he said.

Expressing delight at the achievement, PSM Habibulla, vice chairman and managing director, Arabia Holdings Group, said: “We  will continue to work on improving road safety norms and reducing road accidents while implementing various safety measures."

“Adopting international best practices across our taxi, bus and limousine operations to better serve public commuters is an integral part of our business,” stated Habibulla.

“This certification is a testimony of our continuous effort and commitment to public safety and the safety of our employees involved in driving activities,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
