Emirates SkyCargo wins top award

LONDON, May 7, 2017

Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, won the ‘Best Cargo Airline Middle East’ award at the annual Cargo Airline of the Year 2017 awards organised by Air Cargo News in London, UK.

This is the 28th time that Emirates SkyCargo has won this recognition in the 31 year history of the awards. The winners of the awards were selected based on voting by over 18,000 supply chain professionals from across the world over a two month period, said a statement from the airlines.

Emirates SkyCargo is the world’s largest international airline cargo operator. Its network spans 155 destinations in over 80 countries on six continents and operates in many of the world’s fastest developing markets. The carrier is an important facilitator of global trade helping exporters connect to their customers through its global hub in Dubai, it said.

Emirates SkyCargo was also named ‘Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Manager of the Year’ at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2017, it added.

Held in Dubai, the Logistics Middle East Awards recognise excellence in supply chain and logistics across different business verticals in the Middle East. Emirates SkyCargo’s award was in recognition for Emirates SkyPharma- the innovative air transportation solution for secure transportation of temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals, said a statement.

In 2016, the carrier inaugurated a brand new, state of the art facility at Dubai International Airport dedicated exclusively to the transport of pharmaceutical products and was also certified as compliant to European Union Good Distribution Practices (GDP) guidelines for the transportation of medicinal products for human use by Bureau Veritas.

Currently Emirates SkyCargo operates the world’s largest GDP certified multi-airport hub offering over 8000 sq m of dedicated space for pharmaceuticals at its cargo terminals in Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC).

Emirates SkyCargo operates a modern fleet of 259 wide-bodied aircraft including 15 freighters- 13 Boeing 777-Fs and two B747-400ERFs. It works closely with its customers to develop specialised transportation solutions for different verticals.

In addition to Emirates SkyPharma, Emirates SkyCargo has also introduced air transport solutions for perishables and high value automobiles, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
