Emicool wins top honours at US show

DUBAI, September 24, 2016

UAE-based Emirates District Cooling (Emicool) said it has won top industry awards in two categories at the 107th International District Energy Association (Idea) annual conference and trade show held recently in Minnesota, US.

The company bagged the Silver Award for the ‘greatest number of buildings committed to district energy beyond North America’ and the Bronze Award for the ‘total building area committed to district energy beyond North America’.

A joint venture between Dubai Investments and leading developer Union Properties, Emicool said this is the fifth year that the company has won the award, thus reflecting its commitment to promoting environmental sustainability in UAE and region.

It currently provides district cooling services to over 17,000 customers in the UAE, with the most efficient and highest quality infrastructure.

It is now planning to increase its plant capacity to 500,000 tons of refrigeration (RT) by 2020 as surging construction activity is leading to pent-up demand for district cooling services across the UAE and region.

On the win, CEO Adib Moubadder said: "Emicool has consistently grown to increase its market share in the UAE and across the region. Winning the Idea award for the fifth time in two different categories is a great honour for us, reaffirming the company’s strategic business model and growth journey."

The company has put forward strategic plans to transform many buildings in Dubai from conventional air-conditioning to district cooling, which will increase penetration of district cooling concept in the market, he added.

Headquartered in Dubai Investments Park, Emicool curently provides services to the Green Community within DIP, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Sports City and Uptown Mirdif.-TradeArabia News Service
